Veterans Can Receive Home Care Free of Charge in Alexandria

This month, we celebrated Veterans Day by honoring those who have served and thanking them for their service, courage, and sacrifice.
What is the History of Veterans Day?
Veterans Day goes back to the end of World War I, when fighting ceased on November 11th, 1918. It wasn’t until 1938, however, that November 11th officially became a federal holiday. The day exists to celebrate and honor Veterans across the country for their devotion to the United States. This is a time to recognize their selflessness in serving our country.

How Can Veterans Pay for Care?
As a Veteran, you have access to several benefits the Veterans Administration provides. Taking advantage of these benefits, however, can be challenging. Many veterans are unaware of their VA benefits or how to access them. Griswold staff can help cut red tape, access the right information, and ensure your loved ones receive the necessary benefits. At Griswold Home Care for Northern Virginia East, we are a VA-approved CCN home care provider. Let us take away the burden of worrying about paying for home care. As a CCN provider, we can offer our home care services free of charge through the VA.
There isn’t one single VA program that covers all of home care; however, there are several different benefit plans. Some programs you may be eligible for include Community Care Network, which includes Homemaker/Home Health Aid & Respite Care, Aid & Attendance, Veteran Directed Care, and Caregiver Support Programs.
What Services are Available for Veterans?
One service available through the VA is Homemaker and Home Health Aide. Through this program, a Caregiver, whom we provide, can come to a Veteran’s home and help take care of the Veteran and their daily activities. This service helps Veterans age in the comfort of their home.
This program is for Veterans who need personal care services and help with activities of daily living. This program is also for Veterans who are isolated, or their caregiver is experiencing burden. At Griswold, our personal care services cover activities such as bathing, toileting, hygiene, hair care, dressing, and more.
Homemaker Home Health Aides work for an organization that has a contract with the VA. Since we are a VA-Approved CCN provider, we are able to provide our Caregivers as part of this program.
