Encouraging elderly individuals to try new activities can be difficult. These activities encourage a positive and empowered attitude toward new experiences in the New Year! Explore these 12 events designed to spark creativity, boost well-being, and create lasting memories. Perfect for our referred Caregivers and families alike!
Basic starting ideas?
Moving around! Early risers can go to Park City Center for a 1.3-mile map around the “wheels and spokes” of the mall even before the shops open.
Universal Athletic Club on Oregon Pike in Lancaster: Membership includes pickleball courts (physical activity, with mental and social stimulation), classes, and pool access.
Lancaster County Office of Aging: An array of services/classes offered online & in person. Classes include yoga, bingo, painting, hand drumming and menu planning, with activities accommodating different mobility levels.
Want to jump on the tech train?
Senior Planet from AARP offers hour-long classes — both in person and online — on finance, fitness, computers and technology! For more information, call 888-713-3495.
Keep an eye on the Big Screen Classics at Penn Cinema in Lititz and enjoy a movie for just $5!
What about education?
Penn State Harrisburg will offer tuition-free classes to seniors through the Spring 2025 term. Millersville University allows seniors 62 and older to audit online or in-person classes.
Libraries: Local libraries offer perennial writing classes, book groups, and programs geared toward seniors like “Bits and Bytes: Online Safety for Seniors.”
Will Workshop with Chester Senior Center: Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 11am – 12pm. This is an in-person Will Workshop for homeowners; the team will provide expert advice and assistance, and participants are eligible for a free follow up appointment to finalize their estate planning documents!

Sit & Sew: March 14th, 2025, 9:00am-5:00pm. Sew with a group of friends while having a professional available to learn techniques.
