Paying for Home Care: Long Term Care Insurance
When considering senior care options for a loved one, we want you to understand the payment sources available.
Home Care Covered by Long-Term Care Insurance
For individuals who have a dementia diagnosis or who need help with two or more activities of daily living, their Long-Term Care (LTC) insurance can help cover the costs of senior care. For many policies, this includes home care services (what we provide at Griswold), assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing. Because each policy is different, you will want to check your specific policy for covered services.
Understanding Your Policy
Most policies have an elimination period – an amount of time during which the policy holder will need to both qualify for and receive services before policy covers the cost of services. During this number of days, the care will need to be paid for using another source of payment. You will also want to understand the daily benefit amount and the maximum benefit period.
