Meet Your Team
Ken Hess
Owner/Director
Ken Hess is the proud owner of Griswold Home Care for Vancouver, a non-medical home care services company dedicated to celebrating, educating, and advocating for the choice to remain independent at home. With a deep understanding of the growing senior population and their strong desire to age in place, Ken has built a team of compassionate and committed caregivers who provide high-quality companion and personal care services to seniors and adults with disabilities.
Ken’s passion for caregiving stems from both professional and personal experiences. Over the past eight years, he and his family have been caregivers for their daughter, giving him firsthand insight into the challenges of finding and retaining dependable, high-quality caregivers. This experience, combined with his 22 years of volunteer work with the Boy Scouts, has reinforced his belief in service, integrity, and the importance of supporting families in need.
After a long and successful career in financial services, Ken knew he was ready for a change—one that would allow him to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives. His fond memories of his grandparents, coupled with witnessing the challenges they faced as they aged, inspired him to be part of the solution.
Today, through Griswold Home Care, Ken and his team provide families with the reliable, respectful, and dignified care their loved ones deserve.
At the heart of everything Ken does are the values that guide his life: family, honesty, ethics, loyalty, and service to others. These principles shape the way he leads his team and ensures that every client receives the compassionate support they need to maintain their independence and dignity in the place they love most—their home.
Linda Hess
Owner/Director
I am proud to co-own Griswold Home Care with my husband, Ken, where we are dedicated to helping seniors, veterans, and adults with disabilities live safely and independently in the comfort of their own homes. Supported by a "Best of Home Care" endorsed national provider with over 40 years of experience, our team works tirelessly to connect families with skilled, compassionate caregivers who provide high-quality, personalized care.
For 32 years, I had the privilege of being an educator, impacting the lives of hundreds of children. I was honored to receive the Teacher of the Year award, a reflection of my deep passion for service and my unwavering commitment to helping others. When I retired, I knew I wanted to continue making a positive difference in my community.
My journey into home care became personal as I watched family members struggle while aging or becoming disabled. Seeing the toll caregiving took on our family, I sought to lessen that burden. When my mother needed assistance, I gained firsthand insight into the challenges of finding reliable, compassionate care—highlighting just how essential home care is for families. This experience inspired me to seek out a company that not only values seniors and honors veterans but also recognizes and cherishes the caregivers who are truly the heart of what we do.
Spencer Hess
Community Liaison
Spencer Hess is the Community Liaison for Griswold Home Care for Vancouver, where we are dedicated to supporting seniors, veterans, and adults with disabilities to live safely and independently in the comfort of their own homes.
My passion for home care stems from personal experience: growing up alongside my disabled sister and witnessing my grandfather’s struggle with Multiple Sclerosis without adequate support. These moments shaped my deep understanding of the emotional and logistical challenges families face when seeking reliable, compassionate care.
I’ve always been drawn to service. As an Eagle Scout, I led numerous volunteer projects that strengthened my commitment to helping others. That spirit continues today through my work with Griswold, where I blend hands-on community involvement with a mission-driven approach to care.
Inspired by the legacy of Dr. Jean Griswold, our mission is simple. We provide affordable, high-quality care with respect, empathy, and integrity—right here in our Vancouver community, where I was born and raised.
Our team is built on these values. From our highly trained caregivers to our dedicated staff, we are united by a common purpose: to help each client “Live Assured,” enjoying peace of mind and the freedom to stay where they love.
As an active member of the Vancouver area, I’m proud to partner with local senior centers, hospitals, and support organizations to ensure every family finds the right resources. Whether it’s a few hours of companionship, post-hospital transition support, or around-the-clock care, our services are tailored to the unique needs of every client.
Every day, I’m reminded that home care is more than a service. It’s a relationship built on trust, dignity, and shared humanity. It’s an honor to walk alongside families during some of life’s most tender moments. Let’s create a plan that brings comfort, confidence, and peace of mind to the people you love most.
In Your Community
We’re in This Together
Our team is dedicated to improving the well-being of our community through serving those who need assistance to live where they love. We are active in the neighborhood, so you’ll see us around town at events, participating in associations and meetings, and supporting local organizations inside and outside the care industry. We firmly believe in our ability to create a happier and healthier place to live through the connections we make with the people in our community.
Jean’s Story
In 1982, Dr. Jean Griswold founded our company at her dining room table in a small suburb of Philadelphia. She found out that an elderly woman in her community had died of complications because she had no support system for care. Jean felt this was an easily preventable tragedy and was driven to find a solution by pairing Caregivers with those who could not thrive in their homes alone. She was a true visionary, establishing one of the first and most successful non-medical home care organizations in the country, despite being wheelchair-bound due to Multiple Sclerosis. Over 40 years later, her legacy lives on nationwide.
Scholarship
Where would we be without Caregivers? Their selflessness is astounding, yet they are often overlooked and underappreciated. The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.
