At Griswold Home Care of Fairfield and New Haven Counties, we believe that true home care goes beyond just helping with daily tasks. It’s about fostering well-being, building connections, and ensuring our clients not only feel safe but also genuinely happy and engaged in their lives. We recently had the privilege of witnessing such a transformation with one of our clients, Mrs. B, and we’re excited to share her story with you.

When we first met Mrs. B, she was struggling. She was depressed and felt isolated living alone. She had little companionship, and the daily tasks of personal care, preparing meals, laundry, and light cleaning felt overwhelming. Our primary goal was to ensure her safety and provide the practical support she needed to remain comfortably in her own home.

We started by providing essential services: assisting with personal care, preparing nutritious meals to keep her strong, handling laundry, and keeping her living space tidy and safe with light cleaning. These services were vital for her physical well-being, but we quickly realized there was a deeper need.

That’s where Sheila, our dedicated caregiver, stepped in. Sheila began visiting Mrs. B five times a week, and while the practical tasks remained important, a significant part of their time together became focused on companionship. What started as simply being present evolved into a genuine friendship, and over time we witnessed a remarkable change in Mrs. B. She started looking forward to each day for Sheila’s visit.

Now, not only is she safe and well-cared for in her home, but she’s also thriving! She’s no longer depressed; she’s genuinely happy and engaged with life. The companionship she receives has empowered her to re-engage, getting out of the house multiple times a week and enjoying activities she once loved and discovering new ones.

This story is a powerful reminder that while personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping are fundamental, the human connection is often the most profound service we can offer. At Griswold of Fairfield and New Haven Counties, we’re incredibly proud of our caregivers like Sheila who not only provide exceptional practical support but also bring joy, laughter, and companionship, truly transforming lives right here in our community.
