What Is the Difference Between Home Care and Home Health Care?
Category:
The difference between home care and home health care is the type of care provided.
Home care consists of non-medical care, while home health care consists of skilled medical care. Explore the similarities and differences, as well as the non-medical in-home care services we provide.
What Is Non-Medical Home Care?
At Griswold Care Pairing for St. Charles, St. Louis & Warren Counties, we provide non-medical in-home care. Non-medical home care is provided by referred Caregivers, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and Home Health Aides (HHAs). There are several ways to pay for Caregiver referrals, including private pay, long-term care insurance (LTCi), and Veterans benefits. Your Griswold referred Caregiver can assist with a wide-ranging scope of services, such as:
- Personal Care: Ideal for someone needing a higher level of care requiring hands-on assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). Includes help with bathing, toileting, dressing, personal hygiene, walking, transfers (assisting or moving a client from one place to another), and medication reminders.
- Companionship: Perfect for those at risk of social isolation or people who just need a little help. Includes friendly conversation, engagement in hobbies, and social outings.
- Homemaking: Let us take some tasks off your plate. Includes meal preparation, light housekeeping, grocery, pharmacy, and local errands.
- Respite Care: Helpful for primary Caregivers needing temporary relief to prevent isolation and burnout. Referred Caregivers provide a much-needed break so primary Caregivers can do things like visit friends, complete personal chores, go to the gym, or take vacations and business trips.
