Did you know that veterans home care services may be covered through VA benefits? Eligible veterans may qualify for assistance that covers most—or even all—of the cost of professional in-home care.

Griswold Home Care San Antonio is here to help you walk through the steps to see if you qualify and, if you do, to get you on track to start receiving care!

Steps To Enrolling In VA Home Care Benefit

If you need help knowing where to start, we are here for you! We can help you find out if you are eligible for VA Home Health Care and “cut though the red tape.” In just a few steps, you can be on your way to start receiving care right at home.

Step One

You must enroll with the VA Health Care in your area. If you are already enrolled, skip to the next step. If not, you have several options to enroll. You can download and fill out the Application for Health Care Benefits then either mail or take it directly to your local VA Medical Center. If your preference is to speak with someone about applying, you can also call the San Antonio VA enrollment line at 210-617-5300 for assistance.

Step Two

Request a consultation for services by contacting your local VA point of contact. This is typically your VA physician, or you can call the local enrollment line at 210-617-5300 and select option 2. Let them know you are interested in the Home Health Aide and Respite Care Program.

Step Three

If you qualify and are approved, congratulations! You can now choose your preferred community provider. If you’re unsure who to select, a VA staff member can help you review your in-network options. Griswold Home Care San Antonio is proud to be an approved community provider serving veterans throughout the San Antonio area. It would be our honor to serve you as well.

Final Step

Once you have selected a community provider your part is done! The VA will send the selected community provider your referral who will then contact you to set up care.

For Family Members

If you are a family member caring for a loved one who is former military, VA Respite Care is an option for you!

Follow the same steps above for your loved one to see if they are eligible to have this service covered.
