Griswold is proud to participate in several events at these centers and to serve many clients who enjoy the programs, resources, and friendships it offers. Charter Senior Living of Orange is a bright, full-service senior living community offering both assisted living and memory care. Amenities include a fitness center, salon, bistro, beer social areas, life skills stations for memory care residents, and activity programs like games, field trips, and communal gatherings. The community emphasizes personalized care, 24-hour support, licensed nurses on staff, pet-friendly options, and comfortable private or shared apartment styles.  Griswold has built strong connections with staff here. Senior Transportation Service: IVCG RIDES (Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers / CareNewHaven) offers transportation services specifically for seniors and persons with disabilities in New Haven. Anyone who is 60 years or older, regardless of income, who lives in the service area, is able to register for IVCG RIDES (non-emergency medical transportation). Volunteers provide most of our rides (with a few supported by staff as “back-up”).  Personal vehicles are utilized, and volunteers pay their own expenses. They accept ride bookings every weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. IVCG RIDES | InterfaithVolunteers.  

The Mary Wade Transportation Program provides free, door-to-door, handicapped-accessible van transportation for seniors age 60 and older in the Greater New Haven, Connecticut, area, enabling them to attend medical, dental, social, and shopping appointments. The program is donation-based and serves individuals who are low-income, unable to afford taxis or public transportation, or otherwise ineligible for Connecticut’s non-emergency Medicaid transportation program.  Medical Transportation for Seniors in New Haven, CT | Mary Wade

This is great for situations where the family is not local to disperse medication in a pre-poured medicine box. The Department of Elderly Services works to help seniors live independently, with dignity, and maintain connections to their families and communities. Elderly Services | New Haven, CT. It provides a variety of services and programs including:  

  • Managing and facilitating the senior centers (Atwater, Dixwell/Newhallville, East Shore) that host social, recreational, educational, and wellness activities.  
  • Offering resource information and referrals for financial, legal, housing, medical, and nutritional support. 
  • Coordinating volunteer services, such as medical chaperones, to accompany seniors to appointments. 
  • Organizing events, outreach, and advocacy to enhance quality of life for senior residents
