Juan Canaan
Co-Owner
My name is Juan Canaan, and I am the co-owner and operator of Griswold Home Care, serving families in Kent and Washington counties. This is a family-oriented business that I run alongside my wife, Miledy, who is a nurse. Together, we are committed to providing dependable, respectful, and compassionate in-home care that helps individuals maintain dignity, independence, and comfort in their own homes. Our focus is on building trust with every family and delivering care that feels consistent, personal, and reliable.
My background is rooted in business operations, leadership, and managing teams in fast-paced environments where accountability and service quality matter, while my wife brings hands-on clinical experience and a deep understanding of patient care. Together, we are trying build an agency that combines strong systems with genuine compassion—ensuring clear communication, dependable caregivers, and a high standard of care for every client we serve.
My “why” is deeply personal. The man who raised me—my stepfather—passed away from cancer when I was 24 years old. During that time, we experienced firsthand how challenging the caregiving process can be. We often had a different caregiver every day—some were great, others were not—and as a young adult, I didn’t fully understand how the system worked or how to ensure better care. That experience stayed with me and is the reason we built this agency differently. As a family-run business, we believe families deserve consistency, compassion, and caregivers they can truly trust. Our mission is to treat every client like family and provide the kind of care we wish we had during one of the most difficult times in our lives.
Miledy Cruz
Co-Owner
My name is Miledy Cruz, and I am a registered nurse and co-owner of Griswold Home Care, proudly serving families throughout Kent and Washington Counties alongside my husband and co-owner, Juan Canaan. Together, we are committed to helping individuals remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their own homes by providing compassionate, dependable care tailored to each family’s unique needs. We believe home care should feel personal, respectful, and centered around preserving dignity.
My background in nursing, including experience in critical care and women’s health, has given me firsthand insight into the challenges families face when caring for loved ones during vulnerable moments. Those experiences strengthened my passion for providing quality care that extends beyond hospital walls. Juan brings valuable experience as a business owner, along with strong leadership and operational ability that helps ensure our agency runs efficiently while maintaining a high standard of service. Together, our healthcare and business backgrounds allow us to lead Griswold Home Care with both compassion and professionalism.
I was inspired to open Griswold Home Care after recognizing the growing need for reliable, non-medical home care services in our community. I saw families struggling to find trustworthy support for their loved ones and wanted to create a service that families could truly depend on. Our mission is rooted in compassion, integrity, and community—giving families peace of mind while ensuring every client feels valued, supported, and cared for like family.

Jean’s Story
In 1982, Dr. Jean Griswold founded our company at her dining room table in a small suburb of Philadelphia. She found out that an elderly woman in her community had died of complications because she had no support system for care. Jean felt this was an easily preventable tragedy and was driven to find a solution by pairing Caregivers with those who could not thrive in their homes alone. She was a true visionary, establishing one of the first and most successful non-medical home care organizations in the country, despite being wheelchair-bound due to Multiple Sclerosis. Over 40 years later, her legacy lives on nationwide.
Scholarship
Where would we be without Caregivers? Their selflessness is astounding, yet they are often overlooked and underappreciated. The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.
