Meet Your Team
Bobby Crider
Director
Our director, Bobby Crider, is a Columbus, Indiana native and BSN-RN. He graduated from Columbus North High School in 1998, and obtained a Bachelors Degree from Indiana University in Criminal Forensics. He studied abroad in the United Kingdom and attended City University London. He later attended Indiana University and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Nursing. He is currently pursuing a DNP-NA degree. Bobby also works as a Critical Care nurse in a busy Organ Transplant ICU. He lives near Edinburgh, Indiana with his wife, Stacy, who is an attorney at Hankey Law Office in Indianapolis, and their three children, Sam, Max, and Millie. He recently served on the board for First Presbyterian Preschool, and has previously served on boards at the Alzheimer’s Association and Friends for Hidalgo. He previously worked as IT Systems Administrators for Reams Asset Management, and CIM Technology Solutions.
Bobby started the Southern Indiana office of Griswold Home Care in 2012, after his grandmother, Pauline Holtkamp of Greensburg, passed away from Alzheimer’s disease. His family tried to seek out additional care for Pauline in her home when she was still able to live independently with the disease, but did not know where to turn. After a bad fall, Pauline was admitted to a nursing home. The family continued to try to obtain additional care for her while in the facility, but again, they didn’t know how to go about it or who to turn to. "Grandma Ping" suffered another severe fall in the nursing facility, and passed away soon after. Bobby believed that were they able to find extra care for her, they may have had a few more good years together. The family knew firsthand how challenging it can be to find care for a loved one who is struggling, so Griswold Home Care seemed like a great way to help other families make those decisions and get the help they need. In his sparse spare time, Bobby enjoys playing the guitar and violin, aquariums, playing with his children, working outdoors, and small construction projects.
Janie Burton
Office Manager
Janie Burton is our General Manager and Coordinator. She wears many hats in the office. Janie has been with our office since its opening in 2012. She has a way of making others feel very comfortable discussing hard and sensitive things, and is great at providing comfort to families during the hard chore or securing care for their loved ones. Janie knows firsthand how difficult it is to provide care for an ailing loved one. After her father passed away, Janie took in her mother and cared for her in her home. Balancing work, family, and caregiving is a feat that she knows very well, and is happy to share her experiences with others.
Janie has lived in the Columbus area for most of her life. She is married, has two children, and 6 grandchildren. She was formerly the Dairy Department Manager of Marsh Supermarket in Columbus. She loves spending time with her family and friends, playing with her three dogs and two cats, and projects at home.
Heather Means
Community Liaison
Heather Means is our Community Liaison. Heather has a long history of senior care. She worked as a case manager and social worker at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana for over 10 years. During this time, she became very adept at helping families navigate the complexity of care for their loved ones. Heather attended Indiana State University and obtained a Bachelors degree in Social Work. She then attended IUPUI and received her Masters Degree in Social Work.
Heather was born and raised in Columbus, Indiana. She is married and has 4 wonderful children, three of which are triplets! In her free time, Heather enjoys watching her kids play their various sports, spending time with her family, and enjoying the company of her many friends.
In Your Community
We’re in This Together
Our team is dedicated to improving the well-being of our community through serving those who need assistance to live where they love. We are active in the neighborhood, so you’ll see us around town at events, participating in associations and meetings, and supporting local organizations inside and outside the care industry. We firmly believe in our ability to create a happier and healthier place to live through the connections we make with the people in our community.
Jean’s Story
In 1982, Dr. Jean Griswold founded our company at her dining room table in a small suburb of Philadelphia. She found out that an elderly woman in her community had died of complications because she had no support system for care. Jean felt this was an easily preventable tragedy and was driven to find a solution by pairing Caregivers with those who could not thrive in their homes alone. She was a true visionary, establishing one of the first and most successful non-medical home care organizations in the country, despite being wheelchair-bound due to Multiple Sclerosis. Over 40 years later, her legacy lives on nationwide.
Scholarship
Where would we be without Caregivers? Their selflessness is astounding, yet they are often overlooked and underappreciated. The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.
