Where Technology Meets Safety in Home Care
Category:
June is National Safety Month, the perfect time for homebound seniors and their families to evaluate and minimize risks in the home.
General Safety Tips for Seniors
Many older adults prefer to live in place. Griswold helps them do so by providing Caregivers to assist with non-medical care in the place they love. Many may have concerns about their own safety living alone, or with a Caregiver, whether that be risk of falls, medication mismanagement, mobility limitations, or vision problems. Keep in mind the following tips to help ensure your senior loved ones stay safe.
- Keep emergency phone numbers readily available in large print
- Prevent falls with handrails, nonslip mats, and using assistive devices
- Safety-proof your home by clearing walkways and ensuring hallways are well-lit
- Protect against fire dangers by not wearing loose clothes while cooking, avoiding overusing extension cords, and ensuring your smoke detectors are working regularly
- Avoid bathroom hazards by using handrails, rubber mats, and keeping the water temperature below 120°
- Prevent medication mix-ups by storing them in a well-lit room so you can read the labels, keeping them organized when stored, and keeping them in their original containers
Innovative Home Care Technology
At Griswold, we’re proud to integrate innovative technology into our home care services. These technologies allow us to provide better care and improve the safety of all of our clients. When technology and home care meet in safe and effective ways, the benefits to our clients can be lifesaving. We are committed to finding innovative ways to ensure your loved ones are supported, whether our Caregivers are present or not. You can rest easy knowing Griswold is dedicated to using technology responsibly to enhance your loved one’s care.
24/7 Virtual Care
Griswold Home Care for Westminster, Broomfield, and Boulder offers you peace of mind with our dedicated virtual care agent, available 24/7. This cutting-edge, audio-based AI technology is perfect for in-home use, delivering continuous monitoring to ensure your loved one remains healthy and safe. This advanced system can identify falls, physical distress, and calls for help, while also spotting early signs of cognitive decline, infections, medication mistakes, and potential urinary tract infections. With this information at hand, our caregiving team can step in promptly, manage symptoms effectively, and help prevent hospitalizations.
Lifeguard
Every family wants reassurance that their loved one is not only safe, but comfortable and doing well day to day. That’s why Lifeguard is part of the care provided by Griswold. Lifeguard uses a discreet system, no cameras, no microphones, and nothing to wear to understand general patterns like sleep, movement, and daily routines. When something seems unusual, such as a long period of inactivity, our 24/7 Lifeguard Alert Center reaches out to make sure everything is okay. It’s a simple, private way to stay connected to what matters: your loved one’s wellbeing.
Able Care
At Griswold, we believe prevention is one of the most meaningful forms of care. That is why we have integrated Able Assess to offer a quick strength screening–a simple way to understand mobility factors that can influence fall risk. Falls can change independence quickly. A brief screening can help identify areas to strengthen, so older adults can feel more confident moving through daily life.

Our Caregivers, in conjunction with our technology, can provide respite care if you need a short break, all the way up to 24-hour home care, for those who need support throughout the day and night.
