While we employ many dedicated caregivers, we have selected just a few to help you see the heart of those who walk into clients’ homes every day to care for their loved ones. Along with skill and experience, integrity, compassion, and professionalism are essential qualities we look for when welcoming someone to our caregiving team.

Whether you are looking for caregiver jobs in San Antonio or searching for a caregiver for a loved one, we hope these introductions will help you feel confident that Griswold Home Care San Antonio is the right choice.

Meet Ann

Before becoming a caregiver, Ann worked in a nursing home as a housekeeper. One day, a resident asked Ann for help, but a nurse told her she couldn’t assist because she didn’t have the required training. Ann says she was truly blessed when the owner stepped in and offered to pay not only for her classes but also for her books, uniform, shoes, and anything else she would need. Thanks to that kindness, Ann was able to go to school and become a CNA.

The very first thing her CNA instructor taught her was empathy. Her instructor stressed how important it is, saying, “Your heart has to be in this. If you do not have empathy, then find another profession.” From the very beginning—even as a housekeeper when that resident first asked for her help—Ann had a heart for caring for others. She has been a CNA since 1995 and still truly loves what she does today.

Meet Katie

At 27 years old, Katie’s husband passed away after battling cancer. As a new mother with a daughter less than a year old, Katie moved back home to begin caring for her father, who was experiencing congestive heart failure and kidney failure. She later cared for her mother, who had Parkinson’s disease and rheumatoid arthritis. After her mother passed away, Katie realized she had been caregiving for almost half her life.

A close friend suggested she continue caregiving as a career, and that is exactly what she chose to do. Katie has been with Griswold Home Care San Antonio since 2009 and has been a consistent, hardworking, and dependable caregiver throughout the years. Learning the history of those she cares for and building personal friendships with each individual is what she enjoys most about caregiving.

During her time at Griswold, Katie has also grown in her understanding of the transitions people experience at the end of life. With all of her experience, she is able to support families through this process and bring comfort during some of life’s most difficult days.

Meet Gabriela

Gabriela received her call to care for others at the young age of 13 when she began caring for her four-year-old brother. He had a rare genetic disorder, Angelman syndrome, which affects the nervous system and causes severe developmental delays. He inspired her to learn all she could to help him live the happiest life possible.

Later, she also cared for her grandmother, who had become bedbound, and stayed with her through her final years. These experiences taught her what it truly means to care for others with love and compassion. These family members led her onto the path of caregiving, which she has now continued for more than 13 years.

Since joining the Griswold caregiving team in San Antonio this past September, she has continued to grow. “Griswold has been amazing. They communicate really well, go above and beyond to make sure we get our scheduled hours, and provide great training and programs that help us grow.”

Meet Adria

Adria finds a deep sense of fulfillment in being a caregiver and truly believes it is her life’s purpose. She cares for others the way she hopes to be cared for. Being present for people during some of the most delicate moments of their lives is what she finds most rewarding. Everyone she has worked with wants to keep her as their ongoing caregiver. She has great empathy and knows just when someone needs a little extra encouragement. With her eye for detail, she tailors her care to each person, providing thoughtful and personalized support.

Meet Umekia

Umekia has been with Griswold Home Care San Antonio since 2023. She finds fulfillment in helping others and loves the one-on-one nature of caregiving, which allows her to make a meaningful impact. Meeting new people, building intentional bonds, and creating meaningful memories with those in her care are what she enjoys most.

She is always striving to grow—both as a caregiver and as an individual.

Umekia cares for her clients with great thoughtfulness. She understands dementia well and will often pick up extra shifts outside of her normal schedule just to ensure her client sees a familiar face. She truly goes the extra mile in the care she provides.
