Staying healthy as we age isn’t always easy, especially when it comes to staying active. In fact, most older adults aren’t getting enough physical activity to support their wellness.

According to a 2024 CDC report analyzing 2022 data, just 14% of adults aged 65 and older met the recommended levels for both aerobic and strength-building activities set by the 2018 Federal Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. That means most older adults are missing out on important health benefits like better mobility, a stronger heart, and greater independence.

With busy lives, it’s easy to overlook our own well-being, especially as we age. August is National Wellness Month, a perfect reminder for seniors and their families to focus on healthy habits that truly improve quality of life. While physical wellness matters, mental wellness is just as essential.

Our team at Griswold Home Care for the Poconos can help support your loved one to age safely and independently in their own home. Work, everyday priorities, and busy schedules can get in the way of your aging parent, and you can’t do it all alone. Our compassionate Caregivers can step in and help your loved one focus on their overall well-being.

Read on for senior wellness tips, local resources in Monroe and Carbon counties, and examples of how Griswold can help your family.
