Meet Your Team
Frank Pettinaro
Owner and Director
Frank Pettinaro has been a lifelong Rochesterian and proud owner of Griswold Care Pairing for Greater Rochester since 2015. A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Frank spent over 25 years in the corporate world before choosing a more meaningful and fulfilling path. After thoughtful reflection and research, he found Griswold Care Pairing to be the perfect alignment of his personal values and professional goals.
Frank and his wife Mary—his partner in both life and business—have been married for over 40 years. Family has always been central to their lives, and that focus is deeply woven into the work they do today.
Why He Does This Work
Frank is often asked about the origin of the Griswold name. The company was founded by Jean Griswold in 1982, the first non-medical home care franchise in the U.S. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at age 36, Jean built the company from her wheelchair with unwavering purpose, compassion, and dedication—values that continue to define the Griswold mission today.
Frank’s personal inspiration also comes from his mother, who was able to remain in her own home until the age of 98—a wish she held dearly. Supporting her through that journey helped spark his passion for helping others age in place with dignity, comfort, and care. With a background in leadership and strong ties to the Rochester community, Frank brings both empathy and professionalism to every family he serves.
What Sets Griswold Apart
Frank is committed to referring only the most compassionate, experienced caregivers—individuals he would feel confident entrusting with his own loved ones. Through thorough screening and background checks, every caregiver must meet the highest standards of care, professionalism, and trustworthiness. His guiding principle is simple:
“Would I choose this caregiver for my own parent or family member?”
If the answer is no, they don’t make the list.
Giving Back
Frank has always believed in supporting his community. Over the years, he has coached youth soccer teams, including at the high school level, and has mentored dozens of young athletes. He is also a strong supporter of the Pancreatic Cancer Association of Western New York. After losing his brother-in-law to the disease, he joined his wife Mary—co-founder of the organization—in raising awareness and critical research funding. Since its founding in 2010, the association has donated nearly $1 million to the Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester.
A Personal Thank You
Thank you for considering Griswold Care Pairing for Greater Rochester. It is truly an honor to support families as they navigate care for their loved ones. Frank’s mission is to provide not only dependable, high-quality home care—but also peace of mind and meaningful, lasting relationships with every family served.

With a multifaceted career spanning both the corporate sector and academic healthcare, Mary brings a wealth of administrative, financial, and operational expertise to her role in the business. Her commitment to compassionate service, community leadership, and organizational excellence is evident in everything she does.

In tandem with this role, she oversees financial management and operational coordination for Griswold Care Pairing for Greater Rochester, where she plays an integral part in sustaining the high standards of service that clients and their families rely on.
A Passion for Purpose-Driven Work
Mary’s involvement in home care is deeply personal and purpose driven. Inspired by her husband Frank’s dedication to serving seniors and families through Griswold, Mary takes pride in contributing to an organization that helps older adults age in place with dignity and independence. Her own mother, who continues to live independently at the age of 89, serves as a daily reminder of the importance of accessible, high-quality in-home support for aging adults.
At Griswold, Mary handles all financial operations and collaborates closely with Frank on key administrative and strategic functions. Her strong organizational background, attention to detail, and people-centered mindset help ensure a smooth and responsive experience for both caregivers and clients.
Leadership Through Advocacy and Service
Beyond her professional commitments, Mary is a dedicated community leader and passionate advocate for cancer research and patient support. In 2010, after the heartbreaking loss of her brother at age 46 to pancreatic cancer, she co-founded the Pancreatic Cancer Association of Western New York. Under her leadership, the organization has raised nearly $1 million to support research, early detection, and awareness efforts in partnership with the Wilmot Cancer Center.
Mary has also played a key role in establishing patient care funds at multiple institutions, including Rochester Regional Health and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY. Her work has directly supported countless patients and families across the region, providing not only funding for research but also practical support for those undergoing treatment.
A Lifelong Mission to Serve
Mary’s life and career are guided by a clear mission: to serve others with compassion, integrity, and purpose. Whether managing financial operations at Griswold, assisting cancer patients and their families, or volunteering in her community, she approaches each role with the belief that small, consistent acts of care can create lasting impact.
Together with Frank, she is honored to serve families throughout the Greater Rochester area, helping them navigate the challenges of aging with empathy, respect, and peace of mind.

In Your Community
We’re in This Together
Our team is dedicated to improving the well-being of our community through serving those who need assistance to live where they love. We are active in the neighborhood, so you’ll see us around town at events, participating in associations and meetings, and supporting local organizations inside and outside the care industry. We firmly believe in our ability to create a happier and healthier place to live through the connections we make with the people in our community.
Jean’s Story
In 1982, Dr. Jean Griswold founded our company at her dining room table in a small suburb of Philadelphia. She found out that an elderly woman in her community had died of complications because she had no support system for care. Jean felt this was an easily preventable tragedy and was driven to find a solution by pairing Caregivers with those who could not thrive in their homes alone. She was a true visionary, establishing one of the first and most successful non-medical home care organizations in the country, despite being wheelchair-bound due to Multiple Sclerosis. Over 40 years later, her legacy lives on nationwide.
Scholarship
Where would we be without Caregivers? Their selflessness is astounding, yet they are often overlooked and underappreciated. The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.
