My name is Amber Parsons, and my heart has always been drawn to caring for others. Before finding my way into healthcare, I began my career as a television journalist, telling the stories of people and their lives. For the past 13 years, I’ve worked in healthcare recruitment and staffing, helping to connect people with the care and support they need. My inspiration to serve the senior community is deeply personal. Watching my father-in-law, Larry, suffer from dementia, and the challenges it placed on my mother-in-law as his caregiver, left a lasting impression on me. I often wonder how different that time might have been if our family had the support and resources that Griswold offers. That experience fuels my passion to ensure other families receive the care, dignity, and compassion they deserve. At home in Golden, Colorado, we are having fun raising our kids, Margot and Shep, and a lively group of animals: three rescued Galgos (Spanish Greyhounds), two cats, 15 chickens, and three ducks. My husband and I have made it our mission to rescue Galgos from Spain, and to this day we’ve brought more than 250 dogs to soft beds and forever homes. Outside of that, I find joy in simple things like wandering through thrift stores, exploring farmers markets, or traveling to new places.

We are active in the neighborhood, so you’ll see us around town at events, participating in associations and meetings, and supporting local organizations inside and outside the care industry. We firmly believe in our ability to create a happier and healthier place to live through the connections we make with the people in our community.
Jean’s Story
In 1982, Dr. Jean Griswold founded our company at her dining room table in a small suburb of Philadelphia. She found out that an elderly woman in her community had died of complications because she had no support system for care. Jean felt this was an easily preventable tragedy and was driven to find a solution by pairing Caregivers with those who could not thrive in their homes alone. She was a true visionary, establishing one of the first and most successful non-medical home care organizations in the country, despite being wheelchair-bound due to Multiple Sclerosis. Over 40 years later, her legacy lives on nationwide.

Where would we be without Caregivers? Their selflessness is astounding, yet they are often overlooked and underappreciated. The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.
