Seniors Hiking

Finding activities your elderly loved ones enjoy can be challenging. That being said it is very important for seniors to stay active.

There are many benefits to staying active for older adults. Some benefits include, lowering the risk of heart disease, improving balance and coordination, and reducing the risk of developing dementia.

Since being active is essential for seniors, we’d like to start 2025 by recommending a few local activities that are tailored for older adults.

Activities in Greensboro

Greater Greensboro Senior Fames & SilverArts – The mission of the Alamance/Burlington Senior Games is to promote mental and physical healthy lifestyles by encouraging seniors to practice and participate in their chosen event(s) throughout the year. There are various events available, so there is something for everyone.

Active Adult Classes – There are several classes available to help keep active at Smith and Trotter Active Adult Centers. Classes ideal for seniors include chair yoga, Hula Hoop Class, SAIL Balance Class, and Tai Chi for Arthritis & Fall Prevention

Aquatics at Smith Active Adult Center – The Smith Active Adult Center offers a variety of aquatic activities for seniors to help them stay active. Water aerobics and a water arthritis class are available weekly.

Card Games – At Trotter Active Adult Center there is a dedicated time monthly to drop-in and play some of your favorite card and board games.

Senior Clubs – Clubs are a great way to maintain social activity for seniors. One local club is the 50+ Hiking Club, where participants take weekly hikes throughout Greensboro and the surrounding area. Another club is the “Booked for Lunch” Book Club who meet to discuss their designated book monthly.

In-Home Care May be Right for You
