After a long and fulfilling career in the technology industry, I began to reflect on what truly mattered to me and my family. This shift in perspective came during a pivotal time in my life when I took a step back to care for my father, Charles. Taking on the role of caregiver was both humbling and eye-opening. I managed his doctor’s appointments, prepared meals, and ensured his safety and well-being. It was during this deeply personal experience that I discovered the profound challenges—and rewards—of home health care. Over the five years I cared for my father, our family also brought in professional caregivers to help manage his needs and give us moments of respite. Balancing the emotional and mental toll of caregiving with the desire to provide the best for my father was not easy. However, seeing his gratitude and knowing he was safe, happy, and healthy brought me immense relief. This peace of mind was invaluable—and something I believe every family deserves. Inspired by this experience, I felt a calling to help others who are navigating the same journey. I wanted to extend that same sense of security and comfort to other families caring for their loved ones. That’s when I decided to partner with Griswold Home Care, a pioneer in the home health care industry with over 40 years of expertise. With Griswold, I found a company that shares my passion for compassionate care, blends innovation with empathy, and serves families with the highest level of dedication. Through Griswold Home Care, I am proud to honor my father’s legacy and channel my personal caregiving journey into a meaningful mission. Our team is dedicated to improving the well-being of our community through serving those who need assistance to live where they love. We are active in the neighborhood, so you’ll see us around town at events, participating in associations and meetings, and supporting local organizations inside and outside the care industry. We firmly believe in our ability to create a happier and healthier place to live through the connections we make with the people in our community.
Jean’s Story
In 1982, Dr. Jean Griswold founded our company at her dining room table in a small suburb of Philadelphia. She found out that an elderly woman in her community had died of complications because she had no support system for care. Jean felt this was an easily preventable tragedy and was driven to find a solution by pairing Caregivers with those who could not thrive in their homes alone. She was a true visionary, establishing one of the first and most successful non-medical home care organizations in the country, despite being wheelchair-bound due to Multiple Sclerosis. Over 40 years later, her legacy lives on nationwide.

Where would we be without Caregivers? Their selflessness is astounding, yet they are often overlooked and underappreciated. The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.
