Respite Care

As a family caregiver, your days off are few and far between.

Attempting to provide care for your aging parents while also trying to maintain your own mental and physical health is a challenge. Your other responsibilities may include your career, caring for your children, finances, household chores, social engagements, and more.

If this sounds like your situation, you are not alone. Per the AARP, 48 million family Caregivers in the United States currently look after an aging loved one. Of those 48 million, 2/3 report having difficulty balancing their jobs with their caregiving duties. While 16% have turned down a promotion because of caregiving responsibilities. We know caring for your loved ones is difficult, and we want to be able to provide some relief.

There is a way to get the help or relief that you need. Where you can have a break and take care of yourself. It’s called Respite Care.

What is Respite Care?

If you are new to home care services, Respite Care is a good place to start. A Griswold Caregiver will provide a much-needed break so primary Caregivers can do things such as visit friends, do personal chores, go to the gym, catch up on work, or take vacations.

Why is it Necessary?

Per the National Alliance for Caregiving, half of the Caregivers who cited poorer health due to caregiving, also noted that their poorer health affected their ability to provide care. Shedding light on the importance of taking time off from your Caregiving duties. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice your health as you provide them with care. You want to be at your best to be able to provide them with the best care.

Taking the opportunity for a short rest can renew your energy and rekindle your motivation. These breaks are just as important for your loved ones as they are for you.

Home Care in the Short-Term

Respite Care gives you a moment to catch your breath, helping you avoid burnout later. One of our Caregivers can help for a few hours a day, a few hours a week, or a few months if that is what you need. You may find that sharing responsibility for your aging loved one helps you to be a better, more patient, and more energized family Caregiver.
