FAQ

Here are some of the most asked questions we get at Griswold Home Care for Bucks County.

What Does Griswold Do?

Founded in 1982 by Jean Griswold, Griswold Home Care is the nation’s oldest non-medical home care franchise. We help families by connecting them with professional Caregivers who provide care services, including personal care, homemaking, and companionship. We offer respite care if you need a short break from caring for your loved one, all the way up to live-in care and 24/7 home care if your loved one requires constant care.

Compassion and care have always guided our work. We take pride in helping seniors remain comfortably and safely in the homes they love.

When Should I Consider Home Care?

You might want to consider home care for a loved one if your loved one:

  • Is living with certain conditions, illnesses, or injuries
  • Is at risk for falls
  • Needs help with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
  • Lives alone and needs support
  • Is a Veteran or has a family Caregiver who needs a break

How Can I Pay for Home Care?

While we do not accept Medicare, we do accept Long-Term Care Insurance (LTCi), Veterans benefits, and out-of-pocket pay. If you aren’t sure where to start, we are happy to assist you with navigating your LTCi policy.

What if My Loved One Refuses Help?

Losing pieces of independence, such as the ability to drive, can feel scary. For most families we work with, we recommend starting small. Sometimes, just 2-3 hours a week for transportation, meals, or companionship can help someone live safely at home for much longer.

Do Your Caregivers Work for You?

Yes, our Caregivers are W2 employees. They enjoy great benefits, including healthcare, 401(k), next-day pay, overtime, biweekly pay, and ongoing training and development. We show our appreciation through robust recognition programs and opportunities for growth, helping them build rewarding careers.

What are the Differences Between Home Care and Home Health?

Home care
  • Non-medical care provided by a Caregiver, CNA, or Home Aide
  • Payer options include LTCi, Veterans Affairs Assistance, and Private Pay
  • Services include meal preparation, bathing, toileting, dressing, etc.
Home Health
  • Skilled care by a licensed professional (Nurses, Physical, Speech, and/or Occupational Therapists)
  • Payer options include Medicare and Medicaid
  • Services include injection administration, medication management, wound care, etc.

What is the GUIDE Program?

For the first time in Medicare history, the federal government is offering comprehensive, ongoing support to family Caregivers of people living with dementia. GUIDE was created specifically for families caring for a loved one with dementia, and your loved one may qualify. The program includes a full support team, a 24/7 help line, Caregiver education, and additional respite hours, at no cost to you. This benefit does not change the care Griswold provides; it is added on top.
