Dr. Jean Griswold started Griswold in 1982. She started it after her husband informed her that an elderly woman in their parish had recently passed. She died due to complications because she had no support system for care.

Jean’s Story

Jean felt that the tragedy could have been easily prevented and was driven to act. She was a true visionary. Establishing one of the most successful non-medical home care organizations in the country despite her Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis. Over 40 years later, her legacy lives on across 170 locations in 30 states!

We’re proud to be backed by over four decades of integrity, compassion, and experience. Jean was an extraordinary leader and remains an inspiration to all who hear her story. Her values live on in Griswold today.

Caregivers live assured that they work with a company that really cares about them and their well-being.

Employees live assured that they work for a company with a solid foundation and a bright future.

The community lives assured that Griswold is there to support those members who need help, thereby making the community a happier, healthier place

Jean Griswold Foundation

The Jean Griswold Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Caregivers through educational opportunities and scholarships. The Jean Griswold Foundation Scholarship Program awards scholarships (up to $3,000 each) to deserving Caregivers who wish to further their education in a care-related field. Applicants do not have to be associated with Griswold in any way and funds will be paid directly to the institution where the caregiver will be receiving education.

The Winter 2026 Scholarship Application period is now open! Applications are accepted until 11:59 pm ET on August 31, 2026. Scholarship Selection Committee will review all candidates in September- October. Scholarship finalists will be notified by December. Award winners will be announced in February when we celebrate National Caregivers’ Day!

In our office, we wear jeans and make a small donation each Friday in support of the Jean Griswold Foundation.
