Senior Living Options for Your Loved Ones in Berks County

Information to help make the right decision for you and your loved ones.
What’s the Difference Between Independent Living and In-Home Care?
If you or your loved one is an aging adult or someone with a disability, finding the right living situation can be challenging. We’re diving into two living options to consider as you look for the right space.
Independent living communities are an option for older adults who still manage their daily routines and medical expenses on their own. Some of these communities are made for those aged 55+ only, and some have additional options for care like assisted living and memory care.
Non-medical home care is designed for older adults and people with disabilities who need some help performing activities of daily living (ADLs). Professionals like Caregivers visit clients in the home to support their needs. This may include performing services like personal care, companion care, homemaking, or Alzheimer’s care support.
Where Can I Find Independent Living Options?
A great example of an independent community right here in Berks County is The Residence at Village Greens. Located in Sinking Spring, their team handles the daily details so that residents can focus on living life to the fullest. Their staff are hands-on, attentive, and genuinely connected to the people who live there, and it’s clear that residents have plenty of activities to stay engaged and active. They do an outstanding job in every area, and we truly enjoy working with them whenever they need extra support for residents in Independent Living. We’re proud to be able to provide Caregivers at independent living facilities like theirs.
Most recently, we had the pleasure of bringing Grammy Award-winning guitarist David Cullen to perform at Village Greens. His latest album, Revival, is a solo guitar collection with 42 tracks covering different moods, tempos, and styles. It was such an honor to sponsor an evening full of music and memories, creating a special and uplifting moment for the entire community. You can find some photos of the performance here!
Where Can I Find Home Care Services in Berks County?
At Griswold, our team of Care Professionals is here to provide compassionate, personalized care for you and your loved ones. Our services cover non-medical needs for seniors and those with certain conditions, illnesses, or injuries. If you’re looking for companion care in Berks County, we can provide you with friendly company, errand assistance, and a helping hand for daily support.
If you or your loved one is navigating the different stages of memory loss, we also offer dementia services. For early-stage clients, we can provide reminders to eat, drink water, and take medication. We help stimulate short-term memory through cognitive activities and assist with tasks like meal preparation and hygiene. For clients with later-stage dementia, we’re here to interact with them in their version of reality and help recall details from their lives.
We have options for those in need of 24-hour home care, too. If you’re looking for full-time care, but don’t want someone living in your home, multiple Caregivers can work in shifts to provide coverage.
